VesakSunday, 26th May, 9:45am. Join us to celebrate the birth, enlightenment and final passing of the Buddha; probably the biggest event on the Buddhist calendar. We will honour the life of this great being, without who none of this would be possible; the monastery, the sangha… Buddhism. An opportunity for celebration, gratitude, dhamma, friendship… joy. This day is about community and you are all welcome.
Working BeeWhat a brilliant day we had last Saturday-week. There were a good number of people and, as well as having a lot of fun, we got a good amount of work done. The Garden Kuti now has a concrete floor with the front apron/patio roughly formed. There was also a lot of energetic bush clearing done along the edge of the stream. A lovely way to spend an afternoon together. view photos
June RetreatFriday 28th to Sunday 30th June. EOY ReceiptsBy now you should all have received your end-of-year donation, tax receipts. If you have not please let us know. I think that this is the quickest time, after March 31st, that we have ever sent these out. There has been much work done over the last few years on upgrading both our local and online accounting systems and it is gratifying to see the results. Much of the recent work has been done by Lindsay and we are very grateful for his diligent and patient work initiating new processes and generally tidying up data. Many thanks to all of you for your generous support over this year – and years past. The monastery is in great shape, socially, financially, materially, dhammically. Anumodana.
Annual General MeetingYou are invited to join us on Sunday June 30th, 1:00pm for our AGM. This is a public meeting and you are all welcome. Note that if you wish to vote you need to be a member. [see below]
MembershipThe main benefit of being a member of the Wellington Theravada Buddhist Association – WTBA – is being able to vote at the ABM. Other benefits include being able to join the committee and to offer financial support; although the fee is deliberately low to maximize inclusion. Being a member is also a tangible sign of your ongoing, overall support of the monastery. Annual membership runs for the year from March 31st. You can download the membership form and send that to us along with the $10 per person fee.
