Kathina Season:This was a very warm-hearted and uplifiting time at Bodhinyanarama. The weather was not so warm but this brought everyone together inside which was lovely and cosy. We had many visiting monks with Dhamma talks by Ajahn Jinalankara and Ajahn Chandako. The formal offering of robe cloth went well this year. Many people have commented on how smoothly everything went and much credit goes to the Kathina-season committee who worked hard to organise and coordinate the many elements. Anumodana to them and to all who helped and participated.
Buddha Shining:Another joyful part of our Kathina-season celebration with many years of grime rubbed away and much joy, happiness and merit made. There is still a bit to go and it will be given the final sheen by machine. The stonework in the area, where the Rupa will eventually reside, is slowly coming together and it is all looking beautiful(er). view photos
Venerable Kusalacitto:As a part of his training he has gone to Vimutti monastery in Auckland for a few weeks. This will give him the opportunity to spend time with Ajahn Chandako and to meet the community in Auckland. The experience of life in different monasteries provides a much broader background to the homeless life. Even so, we look forward to his return. view photos
Ajahn & Craig:Will be travelling to Auckland on Friday to meet with friends there and to spend time at Vimutti monastery. Being able to have reciprocal monastic visits is very limited in the West so it is nice to be able go and deepen our connections in Auckland.
Ajahn Dhammasiha:The abbot of Dhammagiri Monastery in Brisbane will be visiting us for a week; arriving on the 27th of November. He has kindly agreed to offer a Dhamma talk on Sunday 30th, 6pm, so do take advantage of this and join us. With Ajahn Kusalo’s mum living just north of Brisbane he has been involved with Dhammagiri since its inception and it is lovely to further develop the relationship between the two monasteries.
Ajahn Sucitto:He finally has received his visa (for a year) and also has a ticket. He will be arriving on the 17th of December and will primarily be in ‘retreat mode’ but there will certainly be opportunities during his time here to meet with him and share dhamma. He had his 65th birthday just over a week ago. Happy Birthday Ajahn!
