Care Unit — Nursing Kuti

Bodhinyanarama Monastery is excited to announce the development of a Care Unit within the monastery grounds. This project has been under consideration for several years and has recently gained urgency due to the passing of our beloved Bruce. The need for a dedicated space for the ill or dying is a crucial element of any community, and Bodhinyanarama is committed to fulfilling this need.

The pictured building plan is a possible variation

The location chosen for the Care Unit is the old library and carport building. This site offers several advantages:

  • Proximity to essential services: The building is conveniently close to existing facilities such as toilets and electricity, minimizing the need for extensive infrastructure development.
  • Accessibility for medical professionals: The location provides easy access for doctors, nurses, hospice care workers, and other medical personnel, ensuring that residents receive the best possible care.
  • Shared bathroom facilities: The building will also house public bathroom facilities, further enhancing its utility for the community.

We are aiming to finalize the architectural plans and submit them to the council for approval early next year. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $300,000.

We invite anyone interested in being involved with the Care Unit project to come forward. Your assistance can be invaluable in various ways, including:

  • Physical construction: Lending your skills and expertise to the actual construction work.
  • Professional advice: Providing guidance and recommendations based on your knowledge and experience.
  • Sharing suggestions: Offering your ideas and feedback to help shape the project’s development
  • Financial contributions: Supporting the project financially through our monastery bank details accessible on the support page.

This project marks the first major construction undertaking at Bodhinyanarama in recent years. We are committed to keeping you updated on the progress through this page. We invite you to join us in this endeavor, driven by the spirit of compassion and service that is the cornerstone of our Buddhist community.
