15th June 2022

June Meditation RetreatFriday 24th June, 7pm โ€“ Sunday 26th, 4pm. “The Present Moment” – let’s make it a gift, a present! It is always being offered but, perhaps, not always fully received; much of the joy in this gift is not appreciated. Led by Ajahn Kusalo. There is still accommodation: booking form
If you have applied but not received an email in the last few days please contact the monastery.

Khao PansaWe will celebrate the entry into this year’s vassa on Sunday, July 3rd – 9:45am. An opportunity to join with the sangha and generate merits for the forthcoming winter retreat. It is also a time to reflect on the Dhammacakka Sutta, the Buddha’s first teaching.
NB. The full moon of Asalha Puja is on the 13th of July and the vassa, pansa, formally starts the day after.

AGMSunday, July 3rd, 12:30pm. As in previous years the agenda is:
The Sangha, Vice President and Treasurers reports.
Committee election.
There will be some introductory discussion on the WTBA constitution. This will just be ‘possible points to consider’ as regards areas needing review. No changes will be proposed. This review will take a year or two (or more) so plenty of time to share ideas.
Note that voting at the AGM is limited to WTBA members. See next:

MembershipOur annual membership transits around March 31st. Membership is a visible sign of your continuing support of the monastery. It also allows you to vote at the annual general meeting – July 3rd, 12:30pm. Please use the online membership form should you wish to become a member. You can do this at any time of the year.
Bhikkhu OrdinationWe are very pleased to share the news with you that Samanera Anenjo will be ordaining as a bhikkhu on July 10th. The not-so-good news is that, due to time constraints, this will take place in Australia with Ajahn Kalyano as the preceptor. It has been too many years since there was an ordination at Bodhinyanarama – but – never mind the venue, lets bring all our good wishes and hearty cheers to focus on the goodness of this event. As well as a ‘new bhikkhu in the world’ it means that we will be four for the vassa. See next:
Ajahn KhantikoAjahn Khantiko has been very diligently following all the covid-border rule changes and we are now happy to announce that his efforts have been rewarded. He will arrive in New Zealand on the 13th of July. He comes on a visitors visa and we hope that it will be possible to apply for a work visa for him during the vassa. Fingers crossed ๐Ÿ™‚
Day of MindfulnessThe third Saturday of every month; 9am to 4pm. The next will be this Saturday, 18th. Come for all or part of this – join for the meal at 10:30. A really good opportunity to give extended time to your meditation. There will be instruction and discussion. Let by Ajahn Kusalacitto.
Cloister DeckThere is not that much major work being done around the monastery and the cloister deck is certainly the most visible. The ends of deck-boards were getting quite rotten and even dangerous in a couple of places – so… the new look has arrived. It is generally quite delightful how well the sala has weathered; such a splendid building (thanks Hugh – et al).
New VehicleThe monastery van is still going well enough but… age – efficiency, maintenance, reliability, etc. And the rising cost of fuel. Time for a change: 6+ seats (preferrably adjustable), hybrid… This is along the lines of what we are looking at: volkswagen or the mitsubishi – and the Toyota Vellfire is also a contender. Informed opinions welcome.
