16th July 2012

Ordination:Some of you may have already met Colin who has been staying with us for a couple of months now. He has been inspired by the life here at Bodhinyanarama and will take anagarika ordination as part of the new moon puja this Wednesday evening, 18th July. His intention is to commit to one years training. You are welcome to join us and take part in wishing Colin well in his undertaking.
AGM:The annual general meeting for WTBA will be held on Sunday, July 29th starting at 3pm. Agenda items include: financial report, sangha report, plans for 2012/13 and the election of the committee. We are very fortunate that the majority of existing committee members are able to continue for another year. The exception is the pivotal role of treasurer and we are lucky to have someone suitably experienced willing to take on the role. All are welcome.
Ajahn Boun Chui:We had a spontaneous, informal visit from Ajahn Boonchuay Punyavanto as part of his short trip around the North Island from Wat Purithat Patitharam in Pathum Thani. He was only with us over two days but the exchange was very fruitful and joyous. He only speaks Thai but we had a young Thai guest with excellent English so were able to enjoy a very relaxed chat and dhamma discussion. view photos
Palmerston North:Ajahn Kusalo was recently in Palmerston North for the monthly monastic visit and as part of this trip went on pindapat in the local mall. A good number of people were on hand to offer alms into the bowl. There was also the first children’s dhamma class with 17 kids and quite a few adults attending. This will be a regular event after the dana on Saturday. view photos
Labyrinth Walk:Lower Hutt hospital has a labyrinth – modeled on the one at Lourdes Cathedral in France. Ajahn was invited to give a talk on walking meditation to staff, patients and visitors and to lead a walk through the labyrinth. The weather was not so good but many of those attending the talk also took part in the walk. view photos
