Monks Return:A brief outline of the closing story: The meetings at Amaravati were highlighted by the patimokkha recitation on the new-moon uposatha with 82 monks present. Very powerful. Venerable Kusalacitto stayed on at ABM while Ajahn Kusalo headed to Manchester to visit the Samatha Center for a few days with meetings most evenings and extended dhamma-danas each day. Then to Cambridge to meet a dhamma group and various old friends. Venerable Kusalacitto joined Ajahn in Oxford for a good mix of dhamma meetings and sight-seeing; as in a seven hour walk around the colleges culminating with evensong at New College. Sublime. Back to London for a couple of nights with Ajahn’s son and a bit more sight-seeing; another seven hour hike! Thirty+ hours of airports and air and Aotearoa hove into view. It is wonderful to be back. view photos
Dana Anumodana:A hearty thank you to all those who continued to bring meal offerings to the monastery to support the lay folk staying here while the monks were away.
Annual General Meeting:Sunday 22nd June at 3pm. Annual reports, committee election, finalising constitution items discussed at last year’s AGM, future plans. All are welcome to attend.
Help Wanted:Centralising monastery administration in a new office over the kitchen has reached a point where someone is needed to help. The duties are relatively simple and can be varied to suit the time and skills availableThe current plan is based on two or three mornings a week on a voluntary basis but this can be adapted. It will take a while to clarify the role so a commitment of at least 6 months, preferably 12, would support the process well. Please contact Ajahn Kusalo.
Aruno Arrivo:Venerable Aruno now has his visa and tickets and will arrive on the 8th July. Vassa starts on the 12th.
Saturday Meditation Workshops:These have been a bit erratic of late with Ajahn Kusalo away but are now back on track – 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. 1pm start.
August Retreat:Friday 15th to Sunday 24th. Register using the Guest Application form on the web site – comment: “Winter Retreat”
