Magha Puja:Last Friday was the full moon of Magha. view photos Not long after the Buddha’s enlightenment 1250 arahants spontaneously gathered around the Buddha. This day is recalled as Sangha day. We reflected on the event as part of our evening puja under a bright moon and celebrated it on Sunday with circumambulation and blessings under a bright sun.
Kutis:Much thought has been given to who might build these with the conclusion that there just isn’t the in-house skill and labour to do it. There have been discussions with several builders and at the committee meeting last night we agreed to appoint one of these. Work should begin mid-March. As a long term investment we have also opted for more insulation including double glazing. These two items, especially labour, change the original budget quite a bit but the overal funds are there so… let’s go for it.!
Patio:The land extension part of this project is finished. view photos There are several thoughts on how to set up the area and seating moves to and fro by the day. It will take a while but a layout will become clear in time. No hurry. With the weather we have been having the views and the space are a delight as they are.
Wheel Stops:The carpark has been a long, protracted process. Putting wheel stops at the edge of all bays is the final tweak and should make parking safer and more compact – assuming people go right back to the stops. They are good but those who hit the gas instead of the brake may still careen into the ditch. Yes, it happened! Life is uncertain – and we do our best.
New Buddha:Some of you may have noticed the trees removed from the garden at the carpark entrance to the dana sala. This creates a more open space with a lovely totara that has more room to grow. We are thinking to put a Buddha rupa on a stone plinth at the corner – in front of the totara. view photos This Buddha image was in the old patio area and, so far, there is agreement that it would fit this new space quite well. A welcoming image when people drive in.
