22nd December 2020

Happy Present Moment“Tis the season to be jolly… ” and the year’s end (and xmas) is a traditional time for happiness. So… much happiness all round! And kindness and good-will to you โ€“ and all beings โ€“ always. All of us here at Bodhinyanarama wish you many blessings and all good things for the new year ahead and thank you for your involvement with the monastery over the year past. This place is truly a jewel and much of that is as a result of your support. Anumodana.
New Year RetreatSaturday December 26th to Sunday January 3rd. Accommodation is full but you are most welcome to come during the day and join in. Morning puja: 6:00, morning meditation starts: 8:30, afternoon meditation starts 2:00, evening puja: 7:00. If a sitting session has already started please do walking meditation until that has finished so as not to disturb retreatants.
New Year’s EveTraditionalists that we are we will celebrate this on December 31st ๐Ÿ™‚ You are all welcome. As in past years the retreatants and visitors will meditate until midnight. There will be some ceremonies and rituals during the evening, especially to mark the transition into the new year. Weather permitting we will conclude the year by ‘planting’ our aspirations under the ‘wishing tree’ while the sangha chants parittas. There will be accommodation for those who want to stay the night but please bring a floor mat and bedding. This really helps. Come at 7pm to begin puja or just join in through the evening.
New Year’s DayFurther maintaining tradition this will, again, be on January 1st.! As we do every year the sangha will walk pindapat down Stokes Valley Road – starting at about 9:30. Coming to the monastery to start the new year establishes the year ahead in such an auspicious way. Join us for the meal at 10:30 and take part in the various ceremonies to determine favourable conditions for the new year ahead.
ChristchurchThere was, a few years back, a thriving group of dhamma practitioners that had a nice relationship with the monastery. And things change, people moved, and meetings stopped. There is fresh interest in renewing that group. If you are in the Christchurch area and are interested please email Ian Mason: Igglynth@gmail.com as he is happy to coordinate activities. He also has a nice story about his cryptic email address ๐Ÿ™‚
Dana RosterMany thanks to those who contacted Aunty Suan and are taking part in the dana roster. It is truly a blessing that this system works so well. As you know our daily shared meal is just that, shared. We are always pleased to welcome anyone who wishes to join us. The roster ensures that someone does.
City MeditationThis is a renewal of the old Quaker House meetings. It is once a month on the 3rd Thursday starting at 6pm; until about 8. It is a simplified version of our regular Sunday format led by one of the monks. Short chanting, meditation instruction, meditation, dhamma talk, discussion. It is held in the Business Center, Ground floor, Block 6, Clyde Quay Wharf, Te Aro. The next meeting will be Thursday the 21st of January. Check future dates on the events calendar
