22nd January 2013

Children’s Dhamma:The fortnightly Wednesday evening class has been discontinued. The thought for 2013 is to cater for children within the 5-13+ age range, probably once a month, probably on a Sunday, probably after the dana. There are several variables and it is important that you express your interest and preferences – even if you are not sure if you can immediately take part.
Please email Ajahn Kusalo: kids@bodhinyanarama.net.nz
Parent Name & email, number of children, ages, preferred day and frequency. Any other thoughts or comments would be welcome.
NOTE: this will not happen unless there is sufficient interest.

Saturday Meditation:These afternoon meditation workshops are held twice a month – the first and third Saturday of every month. So, the next is Saturday 2nd February, starting at 1pm and finishing at 5. You can come for all or part of these sessions.
New Calendar:The events calendar on the web site has been upgraded and the new version is both easier to read and to keep updated. This change also initiated a site-wide horizontal menu which is a more efficient use of the page.
Thai Embassy:Seven monks, from most of the Wellington viharas, gathered at the invitation of the Thai Embassy to offer blessings. They have only been in the building about a year and are still exploring the use of various spaces. It was a pleasure to meet with the Embassy staff and take part in their first Buddhist ceremony. view photos
Boundaries:There has been discussion over previous months around defining boundaries for three zones within the monastery: lay, monk’s and hermitage. Thoughts are becoming more clear and maps are being examined and a surveyor is being consulted. Concepts are still quite formative but you could have a look here The monk’s zone is already reasonably defined but one or two lines could be made more clear.
Screening:It has been a while since the trees were cleared in front of the garden kuti and the space has been quite open to view. A new screen has been put up which both gives privacy and creates a nice courtyard area. All it needs now is landscaping. view photos
Gratitude to Parents:April 14th. It is still a good way off and this is so you can make a diary entry and be sure not to miss joining with us to celebrate and commemorate your parents. The format has not been finalised but the activities, rituals and reflections will focus on parents, both living and deceased and most likely pivot around the offering of the daily meal. More later.
