Updates:PPS – The formal AGM announcement is available on the Event Calendar notice. Or, you can view it here
These updates will get into synch shortly. Sorry if this is a bit messy.
PS – I sent an email using the monastery mail list but a combination of a new host and a new script environment and the database being a bit messy meant many copies were sent to some and none to others. I have a new system and will send another to confirm your details. Hopefully this behaves.

Vesak:This is somewhat after the event of 27th May but – news is news. And the news is good.
We decided not to put up the marquee and were lucky to have a relatively fine day. We were blessed with the attendance of monks from the Thai, Burmese and Cambodian temples. About 150 people joined us to celebrate the Buddha’s life. Various offerings were made to the sangha. The rice pindapat lined the cloister almost twice around. After the meal the sangha led the assembly in a circumambulation of the main shrine chanting homage to the Buddha. Auspicious paritta chanting was the prelude to the final ‘sprinkling of blessings’. A beautiful day.
Ajahn Chandako:It is the tradition for monks to meet prior to the beginning of vassa to pay respects and wish each other well for the retreat period. Ajahn Chandako wanted to meet with Ajahn Kusalo but will be spending the vassa in Abhayagiri so was kind enough to travel to Bodhinyanarama to stay with us for a few days. Discussions were very fruitful and it is hoped that this would be the first of many reciprocal meetings. view photos
Forest Clearing:The bush around Bodhinyanarama is relentless. It never stops growing. A few clear days were used to clear the trees in front of Vivekka kuti – the one highest up the valley. It is intended to use this kuti as a retreat space on a regular basis with residents taking turns to be on self-retreat for varying periods. view photos
