Welcoming Anagarika Alex On Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, Alex received the Anagarika precepts in a joyous and heartfelt ceremony. We are delighted to welcome Alex into our monastic community as an Anagarika. Alex has been living with us for the past few months and has expressed his deep commitment to the Buddha’s teachings and our monastic way of life. The Anagarika precepts are a set of guidelines for laypeople who wish to dedicate themselves to living a life of simplicity, service, and spiritual practice. Taking these 8 precepts is a significant step on the path to becoming a monastic. During the ceremony, Alex recited the Anagarika precepts and pledged to uphold them. We are confident that Alex will be a valuable asset to our community. He is a kind, compassionate, and thoughtful person who is always willing to lend a helping hand. We look forward to supporting him on his spiritual journey.
Rains Retreat 2024Our annual Rains Retreat (Vassa) will begin on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, the day after the full moon of Asalha Puja. During the Rains Retreat, the monastic community traditionally withdraws from external activities and focuses more on introspection, reflection, and meditation.The Rains Retreat is a time for the monastics to deepen their practice and understanding of the Buddha’s teachings. The Vassa lasts for three months, until the full moon of October. During this time, the monastics will be dedicated to their practice, but we are still happy to welcome visitors for some of our events.
Saturday Meditation WorkshopsPlease note that during the Rains Retreat, our Saturday Meditation Workshops will not be held on the first Saturday of the month.
AGM NoticeOur Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 at 12:30 pm in the main hall of the monastery.The AGM is a public meeting where everyone is welcome to attend. It is an opportunity to learn about the monastery’s activities over the past year and ask questions.
