Gravel:There are two parts to this item. The first is that gravel was delivered and that the two new kuti tracks have been superbly surfaced. view photos Discussion with a builder is underway. The second, less visible, in fact ‘invisible’, is that the loaded delivery truck weighed 13.5 tonnes and its journey across the carpark left no impression. No dents, no ruts. This was a relief and confirmation of an asphalt job well done.
Appendix:You are, I am sure, all familiar with the embryologically developed blind-ended tube connected to the cecum. You may not however know that Venerable Kusalacitto has just had his removed. The surgery was successful and he is now back in the monastery after a few days in hospital. It will take a while for him to fully recover but his spirits are good. We wish him well.
Money (giving):Our last dana count, which included your donations from xmas and new year, has been finalised. Over $10k was given. This is incredibly generous and we (the Sangha and committee) are very grateful. Anumodana! Knowing that there is this kind of support makes it so much easier for us to finalise planning decisions as regards the long term development of the monastery.
Money (receipting):We are generally trying to streamline the post-dana process. It takes several hours each count. Previously a receipt was sent for each donation. This took a lot of time. It is also hoped that receipts can be emailed which also saves time and postage. Now, every donation will be acknowledged and a single, summary receipt will be sent to each donor just before the end of the financial year. Software is being customised to help make the whole process less time consuming for our volunteers. In principle all will go smoothly and the only change you will notice is a single year-end receipt.
Memorial Grove:The area roughly between the car park and the stupa is being developed as a single species (Rewarewa) memorial grove where a tree can be planted in memory of deceased friends and relatives. It will take quite a while to create space and determine a layour plan.details
Patio:Flat land is rare at Bodhinyanarama. There is a small patch outside the upper-house monks’ library which is being extended by a couple of meters to provide a useable, outdoor sitting and meeting area. At the moment it is not much more than a through way to other tracks. The trees were cut back several months ago to open up the view. Just a few materials and a couple of days work – et… voila! view photos
