𐦂𖨆𐀪𖠋 Community…

A couple of weeks ago we had the nursing kuti dedication. There were about 150 people for the dana offering and about a third of those stayed for the blessing ceremony. Simple and sweet. Last weekend we had a working bee with lots of helpers coming through the day. The main focus was repairing the river bank after the storm a fortnight ago. There are a few photos of both events.

💦 Songkran

Sunday 12th April. South-East Asian new year is another opportunity for community; to celebrate our lives together and reflect on our respective changes… and to share water blessings, small and large; a cleansing. To mark the sun’s annual passing into the Aries constellation. We set out many of our Buddha images to be blessed and you are welcome to bring yours. All are welcome.

☸ Vimutti

Did you know that we have a sister monastery in Auckland? Vimutti. It is a full branch monastery, as is Bodhinyanarama, but various circumstances have meant that there has not been much active relationship between us. This will change – eg. in May we will all be heading there for Vesak. The main thing is that you are aware of it and that you are most welcome to visit there if you are in Auckland.

🧮 Finances

Ours are quite healthy and Lindsay has the books well in order. There are times when he needs a bit more experienced support and we would like to hear from you if you have financial experience. Many weeks there is nothing required but perhaps thinking in terms of zero to three hours/wk as an average. It would suit a retired accountant or someone similar. The time frame is very flexible. Please do enquire if you are interested to help.

🚶‍➡️ Tudong

Ajahn Kusalo and Venerable Caranadhammo are heading to the South Island on tudong for about a couple of weeks; starting on Monday 9th. There is no fixed plan other than to take the ferry to Picton and start walking, hitching, camping, pindapat, dhamma, meditation… the monk’s life on the road.
