5th March 2013

Day-long Retreat:This Saturday, the 9th, led by Sharda Rogell a lay woman meditation teacher based at Spirit Rock California. The theme will be “Knowing One Taste.” Start 9:00am and end at 4:00pm. Lunch will be at 12:00. Bring a dish. All are welcome but you need to attend the entire day.
Children’s Dhamma:The first class will be on the 17th. Join us for the dana at 10:30 or come for the class at 12:30. We will meet in the shrine room over the kitchen.
Sala By-pass:The new track has been cleared and we are now working on planting a few ferns and such to stimulate regeneration along the sides which are still a little raw. The overall result is most satisfactory with the grade quite manageable. The sala feels quieter already. view photos
Meditation:We have the capacity to witness to the activity of our mind. It is this ability that offers the key to freedom. If we can see an inclination to act then we can question its usefulness. This requires enough clarity (and interest) to attend to these movements. Over time we come to recognise repeated patterns of movement – habits. We notice them, we attend and investigate. This investigation leads to understanding, knowledge. The more we see and understand the less we are a slave to our habits.
Kitchen Trellis:This is almost finished (waiting for more material) and many thanks go to Richard and Oliver for their diligent persistence. A job well done. view photos
Venerable Thitavijjo:Venerable Thitavijjo returned last Wednesday and is well rested after his time with family. He will be travelling to Palmerston North this weekend to lead the teachings there. Welcome back.
Flat Earth:Yes, we have some at Bodhinyanarama. There is a small patch across the stream below the library and Andrew spent several hours clearing the encroaching vegetation. view photos
