Annual General MeetingIt seems only a year ago that we had the last one ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunday July 9th โ€“ 12:30pm (just after dana); an annual review of the year past and the election of the WTBA committee. Everyone is welcome to attend but you can only vote if you are a member. You can action your annual membership here.

Monastery WebsiteThe new website is nicely operational โ€“ although there have been the inevitable bugs to iron out. Please let us know if you spot anything that doesn’t work or seems ‘weird’. Just to be clear that the site is at: www.bodhinyanarama.net.nz โ€“ bookmark that!

Three Wise MenWith the vitalisation / reinvention of Vimutti monastery in Auckland well underway we are sending monks there on a rotational basis. At the moment Ajahns Nandiyo and Pasada are there along with venerable Anenjo = the 3 wise men. The regular offering of dhamma activities is being much appreciated. ATBA has just launched a new website to more inclusively present the range of events they offer. Go to atba.nz. A nice, short URL โ€“ perhaps we should get wtba.nz????

Next month Ajahn Kusalo will be at Vimutti with venerable Javano (and possibly one other [to make it 3]).

CommunityOur community continues to grow with the recent arrival of Ajahn Anuttalo from Thailand. He has a long-term visa and we hope that all goes well for him here; he is still a bit jet-lagged.

Ben took anagarika precepts last week and continues to enjoy his time here at Bodhinyanarama. It is different being on the ‘sangha side’ of the community with the benefits of more dhamma involvement and Ben seems to be enjoying the ‘deeper’ connection.

Ian Ramsden, a very long-term friend and supporter of the monastery, has moved here with an open-ended commitment. Where that will go only time will tell but we are already appreciating his input.

Jamie McEwan, old friend and ex-monk, is also joining us with ?plans ?thoughts to be here for ‘the duration’. Monastic life is a very organic affair and, as with life itself, we allow the word ‘uncertain’… Who of us will be here tomorrow? Employed? Married? Mobile?

Carpe diem! Carpe praesens! {seize the day… seize the present moment!}

Or, as Ajahn Chah suggested, “Don’t waste time picking berries along the way!”

VassaStarts on August 2nd.
